The New Moon In Leo
“Courage doesn’t always roar.
Sometimes courage is the quiet voice
at the end of the day saying,
`I will try again tomorrow.’”
~ Mary Anne Radmacher
On July 28, 2022 (12:54 PM Central StandardTime; the time and day depends on where you live), the New Moon will be in passionate, loyal, big-hearted, authentic, creative, spirited, and brave Leo.
The message for this month is to bravely trust our inner voice and to not give in to our defiant fears. True courage comes from building the confidence and strength to keep pushing forward despite all our fears and moments of self-doubt.
Being our true authentic self is a scary thing and requires guts. It is the foundation from which we can reveal and express our most genuine thoughts, feelings, and parts of ourselves. Self-realization is about knowing and trusting ourselves so much that we no longer need or crave the approval of others and to be liked. From our inner strength, we are better able to manage our own thoughts and emotions gracefully in difficult times.
Keeping our hearts open is another daring act. We ask ourselves, “How can we let murderers, people who harm others, get away with things? Don’t we need to fight back?” Here is the thing, if those people who have wronged others had an open heart, would they have even resorted to causing harm?
Only with an open heart can we create a space within ourselves to choose forgiveness over revenge and compassion over violence or harm. Creation can only happen with an open heart and is the opposite of destruction.
If we always fiercely keep our heart, minds, ears, and eyes open, wouldn’t it be easier to be part of the solution rather than the problem?
This painting, “The Golden Linings of the Rising Sun,” was created after a week of sad losses. I followed my own advice from the New Moon in Cancer to connect with my feelings and process my grief so that I could move on and find the golden lining to create this New Moon in Leo painting.
From the age of five, I lost most of my very important loved ones, all before I was 32, due to tragic accidents, diseases, or moving away because of my navy father being stationed in different countries. Growing up, the world seemed to be a very scary place and the only solution for me seemed to be to close my heart so that I would never feel that kind of pain again. By disconnecting myself, however, I didn’t feel joy anymore either and life lost its purpose.
During a New Moon in Leo in 2001, I made the conscious decision to passionately live and approach my new beginning as a beautiful sunrise, illuminating all new treasures that were hidden in the night. Instead of using my imagination to worry and create worst case scenarios, I imagined the life I wanted and the person I intended to be.
The fearless Leo energy helped me to start over and to bravely let go of things, situations, and people who would hinder my self-growth. It gave me the courage to fight the struggles and to not give up or give into the fears of being judged, ridiculed, or becoming a doormat.
The New Moon in Leo and the Sun in Leo periods can be very helpful to find the courage to start risky journeys.
I recognized my inner worth and talents and was bravely able to acquire the skills to move myself closer to that goal I set for myself: to create a world that will increase the moments of inner peace.
Standing up for myself and others became much easier. People, who normally would have been toxic to me, would start treating me completely differently because I was more clear about my own needs and able to set healthy boundaries. All these changes increased my confidence and courage, while my fears that were holding me back before had decreased.
Peoples’ opinions no longer were able to chip away at my self-perception and I started feeling very comfortable in my own skin, stronger to persevere through rough times, and better able to be a support for others. Overcoming new challenges further strengthened my inner self-belief and my confidence grew.
I’m now the version of myself I imagined on that New Moon in Leo day in the summer of 2001. The first step was making the conscious decision to stop waiting around and to rise up to become what and who I really wanted to be, and also to do what I wanted with passion and heart.
Every day, my inner self comes more to life and wants to passionately and fiercely express itself thanks to using the positive energies Leo represents. I freed my heart from its cage of self-pity and summoned up the courage to heal it and spark my passions. Life continued throwing obstacles on my path, but they rarely threw me completely out of balance. If they do, they last much shorter than before I set my intentions in 2001.
This New Moon and Sun in Leo is wonderful for remembering the fact that we are all born under the same sun.
We all share the same life force but have very different life challenges. The key is to flame our passions, open our hearts, bravely follow our dreams, find those gold linings, and let our inner bright light lift up the darkness.
On the new Moon day and the following week, we might feel extra edgy, irritated, nervous, tense, or uneasy. The key is to keep our hearts, heads, and minds open from the day of the New Moon until December this year.
Leo is a fixed sign which could activate our stubbornness and pride. We may begin creating our own inner obstacles on top of the external obstacles that we will be facing at the end of July and during August which could make us feel insecure, overwhelmed, or unmotivated.
The first 2 weeks of August and especially around the full moon on August 11, we have to find a balance between taking good care of ourselves without becoming too self absorbed and expressing ourselves without overdramatizing or becoming a bully.
We crave progress and this could turn into feeling frustrated when things go slower than we want. It is important that we focus on defusing intense situations to avoid things getting out of hand.
After the full moon, tempers will flare less and we will be able to express our fighting spirit, anger, and other passionate feelings more constructively.
Postpone important conversations and new journeys until a week after the full moon. It is important to remember that everyone feels these fiery energies and the need to stand up and fight for what is right. During the second half of August, we will be better able to constructively use the energy during conflicts when we feel a little more grounded and clear about which battles to pick and where to put our disciplined efforts.
We can use the Leo energies of this New Moon during this time of new beginnings to write down our wishes, questions, and prayers for cosmic help.
For best results, it is best to write the wishes on the exact New Moon or within 6 hours. Here are some examples of questions we might ask and wishes in the spirit of Leo. This is also a great opportunity to reflect on which of our wishes came true on last month’s New Moon in Cancer and which ones need some more time to manifest.
- How can I find the silver lining or even better yet, the golden lining in every situation, especially the bad ones?
- I embrace guidance for living an authentic lifestyle that makes my heart sing and creates sensations of joy.
- How can I adopt a contagious positive outlook to help me and others through trying times?
- I embrace guidance to stop comparing myself to others and to be my true authentic self while genuinely being compassionate about others being true to themselves.
- What speaks to my soul and gives me the strength to fight everyday for my right to be who I am and for the rights of others?
- I embrace guidance for keeping my heart, eyes, and mind open when I feel wronged, hurt, envious, angry, or disappointed.
- How can I be proud without being motivated by pride and greed?
- I embrace guidance to express myself clearly, gracefully, and fiercely without becoming melodramatic when facing unexpected events, disillusions, or things I perceive as threatening or unfair.
- How can I recognize my self-worth and increase my self-respect?
- How can I passionately inspire and encourage others to boost their self-confidence without forcing my opinions and agenda onto them?
- How can I push myself out of my comfort zone and live a life as if it is an adventure with a sense of curiosity rather than fear and from strength and not from victimhood?
- How can I use my creative powers?
- What is a good way to let my inner light lift up the darkness?
Once we set our intention and put in our own efforts, help and guidance will appear in surprising and synchronistic ways.
We can ask whatever we want as long as our wishes are specific and aligned with the energies that are present.
On the next New Moon in Virgo, we will build further on our sense of empowerment by becoming more organized and productive. We will then look back and reflect on which wishes came through, which questions were answered, and where we have to direct our focus.
Happy New Moon! May you shine bright and light the spark of your soul, and don’t let anyone or anything dim your dreams and vision for the future!
