The New Moon In Scorpio
“And so long as you haven’t experienced this:
to die and so to grow,
you are only a troubled guest on the dark earth.”
~ Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
On October 25, 2022 (5:48 AM Central Time; the time and day depends on where you live), the New Moon will be in the mysterious, intense, focused, profound, and deeply feeling Scorpio.
The key is to dive deep into the realm of our emotions and the darkest corners of our mind without losing sight of the light.
This will help us through the emotional challenges ahead in the coming 4 weeks due to a New Moon that will also be partially eclipsing the Sun, a Full Moon on the 8th of November (which is also a Lunar Eclipse in Taurus), and several planets squaring Saturn.
Instead of describing the essence of Scorpio, I decided to make an acrylic painting “Rise to the Light” to convey how I experienced Scorpio’s transformative energies in my life. Energies that offered me the opportunity to learn profound lessons of impermanence, transformation, and letting go.
While the Libra New Moon was about Agape love, partnership, and connection, the Scorpio New Moon is about infinite love, deeper connections, and intimacy.
Scorpio is often feared for the association with endings and death, but it is important to remember that it is also about new beginnings and rebirth. In other words, Scorpio encourages us to embrace change as the only constant. Every change, however, will trigger the most intense fear we all feel, the fear of the unknown.
Even though Mercury is back to its normal speed, Mars will be Retrograde from the end of October till the first week of next year. This means that our energy levels for starting something new might feel more sluggish and depleted. We could use our intense Scorpio drive on finishing things we have postponed and to follow our neglected passions.
In the first 2 weeks of November, we might feel all sorts of dark emotions and old pain resurfacing. We may be tested if we have learned from our lessons in the past 7 years. Our desire for safety could feel extra strong. At the same time, we long for freedom from old pain and illusions. Like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, we want to look behind the curtain. Scorpio will give us the courage and devotion to end something and start completely over in our life, habits, relationships, work etc.
In order to do so, we might feel the need to get to the bottom of things to uncover secrets or solutions. If we dare to explore the depth of our life lessons instead of waiting to be maneuvered on the board of life, we will prevent the negative expressions of Scorpio, such as dwelling in bitterness, jealousy, and fear. We can then let go, transform, and rise up, and we will be ready to face the surface of reality with strength and passion.
The quote I chose for this article is from the poem by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe that beautifully expresses the Scorpio essence:
.
Holy Longing
Tell a wise person, or else keep silent,
because the mass man will mock it right away.
I praise what is truly alive,
what longs to be burned to death.
In the calm water of the love-nights,
where you were begotten, where you have begotten,
a strange feeling comes over you,
when you see the silent candle burning.
Now you are no longer caught in the obsession with darkness,
and a desire for higher love-making sweeps you upward.
Distance does not make you falter.
Now, arriving in magic, flying,
and finally, insane for the light,
you are the butterfly and you are gone.
And so long as you haven’t experienced this: to die and so to grow,
you are only a troubled guest on the dark earth.
.
We can use the energies of this Scorpio New Moon during this time of new beginnings to write down our wishes, questions, and prayers for cosmic help.
For best results, it is best to write the wishes on the exact New Moon or within 6 hours. Here are some examples of questions we might ask and wishes in the spirit of Scorpio. This is also a great opportunity to reflect on which of our wishes came true on last month’s New Moon in Libra and which ones need some more time to manifest.
- How can I see things as they really are without all or nothing thinking?
- I accept guidance to emerge from a deeper understanding, free from feelings of desperation, bitterness, jealousy, cynicism, defeat, or anger.
- How can I release old pain to avoid resorting to vengeance or feeling helpless?
- I accept guidance to channel my feelings in a creative and constructive way.
- How can I love deeply without becoming obsessive?
Once we set our intention and put in our own efforts, help and guidance will appear in surprising and synchronistic ways. We can ask whatever we want as long as our wishes are specific and aligned with the energies that are present.
On the next New Moon in Sagittarius, we will build further on our sense of empowerment by focusing on change and transformation. We will then look back and reflect on which wishes came through, which questions were answered, and where we have to direct our focus.
Happy New Moon! May you dive deeply and never lose sight of the light.

About the Author
Drawn in by a fear of the unknown, combined with curiosity about the future and the metaphysical realm, Ursula Brozovich Kerger studied for three years with Dutch Astrologer, Liesbeth van Ravenhorst, in the early nineties. As she was embarking on her own spiritual journey, her astrology practice became more about diving deep into our soul, connecting with our authentic self, and our soul purpose. Her love for humanity and every sentient being on earth motivated her to further expand her astrological knowledge by studying collective consciousness. If she is not studying the celestial influences, she is either writing or you can find her in her art studio painting and illustrating. All her work is inspired by her love for astrological insights, life, nature, and her pets.
