We live in a time where gender roles are constantly shifting and fluctuating. We can see it everywhere around us, yet society’s paradigm of modern living frequently fails to demonstrate that to be a complete person we need to receive both female and male energy from the Universe. This is also necessary before we can have healthy relationships with a partner.
As children we were often taught to conform to gender roles, but today those roles are becoming more fluid. Our communities continue to show that we’re more accepting of those who don’t conform to the traditional gender roles than ever before. As women continue to gain equality in the workplace and the number of stay at home dads skyrockets, it’s clear to see that the gender biased world we once lived in is shifting. And this is important to me because it indicates our conscious evolution as a society.
How We Got Here
The Celestine Prophecy’s Eighth Insight discusses how in a certain stage of childhood we emulate one of our parents (in most cases our same-sex parent), and many of us idealize our opposite sex parent to the point where they become our source of opposite sex energy. In situations where our opposite sex parent let us down and failed to provide us with the energy that we so desired from them, an imbalance is created. Often once we reach our teenage years or young adulthood we’ll go looking to fill that void in the form of sexual partners. Many psychologists have identified this process of emulation and mystification of the opposite sex, which can frequently create unhealthy patterns in our lives. Unfortunately, many of us get stuck in this stage of development.
When we seek opposite-sex energy in order to complete ourselves, conflict arises, because ultimately we can’t control our partners, despite our sometimes overwhelming efforts. Both partners will have different approaches to life. In scenarios where one partner focuses on their own goals independently from the other, the other may suffer, as they feel they are losing attention and that vital opposite sex energy they crave. Arguments will occur, tears will be shed, voices raised and doors may be slammed as we continue battling for the affection we believe we need to survive.
Whilst romantic relationships are often our main source of opposite-sex energy, these power struggles can also occur in other bonds, such as between business partners or friends. Any two people can become addicted to each other, not knowing it’s simply the energy of the other that they are addicted to.
Establishing Balance
In this age of heightening spiritual awareness, it should be clear to us by now that the most incredible relationships are between people who are balanced within themselves. That age-old adage ‘we must love ourselves before we can love anyone else’ not only means that we must like who we are deep-down, but that we must also know how to sustain loving energy without depending on anyone else. When we are balanced in our souls, and take our opposite sex energy from the Universe Source, we don’t need to seek masculine or feminine energy from another human to feel complete.
When we are feeling unbalanced, we can meditate and ask the Universe to support us in our time of vulnerability. Once you tune in to the frequency of Love through meditation, you will feel its energy running through you like a warm hug, providing you with the energy you need to get through the day. In a relaxed state you can allow yourself to collapse into the arms of Divine, and let Love support your body and soul. With Universal energy it’s safe to let all your tension go, and feel the frequency of Universal Love cradle you in its arms. Allowing time for that energy to nurture us is very important, especially when we’ve been previously closed off to this energy, or as we transition between relying on external opposite sex energy to relying on energy from the Universe. Know that loving energy is being transferred to you, for you to take within you, as part of you, as you move forward in life.
Why We Need to Make the Change
There are many reasons to open ourselves up to the possibility of the opposite sex energy being a part of ourselves. It’s not just about having a better relationship with others, rather it’s about having a better relationship with ourselves and feeling whole.
Many ancient cultures stressed that being in balance with both male and female energy was important. In others, this idea was repressed until recently. And although some may interpret this idea with resistance, being in harmony with our opposite sex energy doesn’t make us any less of the gender we are. If anything, it allows us to have an even better relationship with our same sex energy and eliminates the possibility of addiction to the missing energy.
The Universe’s energy is both male and female, and this is mirrored in ourselves. We all have masculine and feminine aspects, which are ultimately parts of the same whole. Through meditation we can open up to whichever sexual energy we are lacking, or we can connect to our energies through metaphysical affirmations. Making conscious statements such as “I am balanced and whole. I accept and embrace the male and female energies which flow through me, and for this I give thanks,” will heighten your spiritual well-being. It’s never too late, we always have the potential within us to correct the imbalance. While there are many paths to balancing our energies, the key is to be connected to Universal energy as much as possible. As we complete ourselves, and we become more in tune, we can move forward to embrace all aspects of our soul. So, let’s do this. It’s time to complete ourselves.
