Where are we in our growth towards Spiritual Consciousness?
James New Book Blog Issue no.1
I’m writing a new book. And I want to do something I’ve never done before — write a blog series about the process.
Writers have different ways of producing a book, so it might be interesting for you to see mine. Also, I have a selfish motive. As I discuss the book, I want your feedback on the concepts. Do you agree with my point of view? Would you tweak any of my conclusions?
This Book is a Little Different
Your feedback is important because this book is a little different. It isn’t a novel, at least not in the ordinary sense. It’s going to be as “true to reality” as I can make it — as I travel around surveying the spiritual landscape. However, not all that is happening out there is friendly, so I’ll have to protect others, as well as myself, by taking care in how I reveal what I find.
The purpose of the book is to analyze how well we are integrating the 12 insights into a lived, authentic spiritual consciousness. The twelve insights were presented by me in the 4 books of the Celestine Series: “The Celestine Prophecy,” “The Tenth Insight,” “The Secret of Shambhala (The Eleventh Insight)” and “The Twelfth Insight.”
Remember, I didn’t make these insights up. I reported them to you as I saw the evidence of their occurrence. For me, they are steps in awakening that humanity has achieved, in a mass way, over the last 60 years. These insights represent the knowledge humanity has achieved that lifts us into a truly miraculous flow of life — complete with a grounded inner security, the perception of intuitive guidance, Synchronistic Flow, life mission, and an alignment with karmic design. (We become luckier)
It’s true that not everyone has yet grasped these archetypal steps. But enough of us have glimpsed and tasted them to create a stir in the public mind, and a slow, but constant, integration of this consciousness into daily life.
Moving From a Material Outlook to a New Spiritual Worldview
I believe in order to accomplish this integration, we have to first take our personal spirituality more seriously in a crazy world. And to do that, we must first understand where we are in our evolutionary journey.
Human spiritual evolution proceeds through shifts and stages. And as the Second Insight suggests, we can awaken more fully by becoming aware of our current place in spiritual history. We exist in a time of transition from a materialistic worldview to a more authentically spiritual outlook.
That means we are awakening from a world that for centuries has concentrated on the everyday shuffling around of material things – work, acquiring homes and food, dealing with educations, kids, and all the other day to day tasks necessary to make our lives secure.
In this old materialistic worldview, spirituality has been an afterthought – a mere decision to “believe or not to believe.” For a long time, we have engaged in religion, but this has usually been for one day a week only, after which we would forget about our belief and return to the material world.
Don’t get me wrong. I believe this materialism was a necessary step in the spiritual evolution of humanity. We had to settle in and create the means of survival and security before we could move on. In fact, it was this general improvement in material security that allowed the spiritual awakening I’m talking about to begin.
