Improve Your Workplace Relationships
Breaking Unhealthy Patterns by Developing Awareness of Control Dramas
The key to breaking unhealthy behavior or thought patterns is first to learn to become centered. It is there that a person can begin breaking these patterns by finding inner security through spirituality and a sense of wholeness. People who subconsciously seek unhealthy sources of energy have usually not yet resolved the patterns and learned new, healthier ways to acquire energy. Until we free ourselves of our control dramas, we are not in a position to guide others toward doing the same.
Once you become aware of these patterns, your roots, and your continued reactions to those early childhood experiences, you can learn how to stop resorting to these control dramas and deal more authentically in social interactions. Part of the process of letting go of control dramas is to learn to live and communicate authentically. This means feeling free to express your deepest truths, share your insights, and allow energy to flow freely in exchanges of all types.
In order to maintain healthy workplace relationships, authentic communication between individuals needs to happen on an ongoing basis. Especially when there is a conflict, it is important to have open lines of communication so that negative or resentful energy doesn’t become a barrier to the relationship. Open communication, where both parties feel free to express themselves honestly, can lead to a greater understanding between co-workers. In this way, the workplace can become a place of tremendous spiritual growth.
Having Authentic Communication
Clearing the air in your relationships will free up a great deal of energy otherwise spent fueling control dramas. In order to communicate authentically, it is important to stay centered. From that place of being, we can speak our deepest truths. This kind of authentic communication will resonate with a coworker in a way that reaches far beyond the words themselves. It is important to begin a conversation that confronts a co-worker by initially acknowledging and taking responsibility for your role in the drama. Address the issue from a place of compassion and understanding, while understanding that they may not be aware that they are resorting to emotionally manipulative tactics.
A Higher Purpose in Conflict Resolution
Ultimate insights come when we fully understand the purpose of our workplace relationships. There are important reasons for our relationship connections, more than just pure chance. People who work together each have qualities, information, and insights that can aid in the spiritual growth of the other members of the group. As with any family, coworkers are present in a person’s life for a specific reason. When you learn to communicate authentically, it becomes easier to grow from others’ experiences. When you break free of control dramas and strengthen your inner security enough to have authentic relationships, you grow spiritually as a result of our workplace interactions.
The synergy that we create when we work together and learn to communicate authentically can lead to a happy and fulfilling workplace environment. Learning to be authentic in every aspect of life is part of becoming whole. Resolving workplace conflict requires approaching disputes and conflict from a place of centeredness and mindfulness. Ideally, it will lead you to share insights and intuitions, make discoveries, and work together to change the world for the better.
