Behind The Screen: Cheryl’s Story – Being Myself
The Journey is My Home
Within this last year, I’ve learned more about myself than I had ever thought possible. I’ve been awakened to numerous things that have improved my daily life while altering my perception & take on the world. Working for James & Kelly, & becoming a part of the Celestine Vision family, has brought endless joy & many adventures to my life, all while providing me with an outlet for my creative energy to flow. The words “thank you” can not express the immense gratitude I have in my heart for James & his willingness to take a chance on me, & for Kelly, who has never stopped believing in me. Without a doubt, my life has been blessed & transformed by them both, & for that, I will forever be thankful.
Steve Jobs once said, “The only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it.” I’m not sure I ever truly believed that it was possible to love the work you did. I mean, I had definitely searched for it, but I just thought it was normal to not be completely fulfilled by your job. So let me stand before you now, as certain proof. It is possible to do work that you love, the kind that doesn’t feel like work, the kind that you are okay with consuming you. The feeling you get out of it is more than I could ever describe. It is a beautiful feeling that you will never want to give up or ever let go of.
This last year has definitely had it’s ups & downs, & most people in my life don’t understand what I do or even why I chose to take this job after devoting so much of my time to cosmetology. But in truth, it doesn’t matter if anyone else “gets it” or approves. My entire life, I have been marching to the beat of my own drum, & although very few have ever understood it’s tune, I never faltered from it. Call it being stubborn, rebellious, or whatever you like, but I choose to refer to it as being true to myself. All my experiences in life, those good & bad, have shaped a once naive, little girl into the woman I am today. One that I think that little girl would have looked up to.
If I could only contribute one thing to the CV community, it would be this:
Never underestimate yourself or the powers of fate. Never give up, never settle. If I have learned anything in this world so far, it is that anything truly is possible. If a simple girl like me could find the job that feeds her soul & brings awareness to herself, the world she sees & all those in it, then it can be achieved by anyone. So keep your hearts open to love, your minds to new possibilities, & your souls to synchronicity!
