Intentional PRAYER WORKS
Prayer works, but you have to try it to believe it. The problem is most of us wait until things are going badly to apply prayer’s powers — so we miss out on the crucial day to day application of this spiritual birthright. That’s correct; prayer is a birthright. I’ve found it’s a force built into our spiritual design and our souls that allow us to have the positive effects. Want the good life? Take prayer seriously. Only when we really engage in it, can we prove to ourselves how prayer works.
The Nature of Prayer
Most of us have already asked the seeker’s ultimate question: Why is prayer necessary? If God, the Divine force behind all of creation, is omnipotent – and therefore knows everything that is happening already, (including what we need) — why is prayer necessary? Every religion has an answer to this question, but science has weighed in too. Dr. Larry Dossey has made many spiritual conclusions in his classic books on prayer. He points the abundance of research supporting prayer by spelling out the main features about this creative force and revealing the true purpose.
First of all, science has found that prayer does work. When we pray for people, they tend to get well sooner. People who pray find that their spirituality becomes more tangible and personal, as if a Divine presence or spirit comes explicitly closer. People who pray for guidance report they more often find it. Science also shows that the most effective prayers are those with the largest number of people praying together. In other words, group prayer works better than praying by yourself.
How to Do it
The science also shows that affirmative prayers work better than “beseeching,” or merely “asking” that something be done.
The Lords Prayer in the New Testament is an example of an affirmative prayer. It doesn’t start out: “Please give us our daily bread.” It is a more affirmative, faith-filled, declaration: “GIVE us our daily bread! THY Kingdom come!
Why is it set up that affirmative, faith-filled prayers work better?
I believe this is because we are designed to become even more spiritually powerful and united in our use of prayer. As we grow in this occurrence, we will move the world toward greater awareness and functioning. Spiritual people in each generation gradually build up more power so as to live more miraculously. We find this especially true as the Millennial Generation comes into their leadership positions. The Divine Intelligence within us wants us to cultivate a higher, personal “faith power” in order to pursue some special calling in this evolution.
A key question: can prayer power be used negatively. The answer is no. There seems to be a confident device built in. Science has shown that the most effective and powerful prayer comes from a conscious Connection with the Divine within us. Go negative, and that Connection automatically breaks down and the effect of the negative prayer goes to zero.
Pray for more MIRACLES in your life.
One more point. Too often, we hear spiritual leaders say to be careful when praying for ourselves. Don’t get selfish. But I believe affirmatively praying for our personal wisdom is also essential to our life success. Again, we can prove to ourselves ( 100% of the time) that when we faithfully pray and visualize the overcoming of a problem, that problem is Synchronistically resolved much faster than if we don’t. The same goes with anything else that we perceive we need — be it clarity, peace, mission, etc.
How do we increase the “faith power” or “certainty” that drives our affirmative prayer? Many people use the following technique: Find within yourself the emotion of gratitude that the prayer is going to work, even before it has. Be sincerely thankful before the outcomes weigh in and solidify your faith in Him, so you can stop worrying.
